NAPS PRESS: Can you introduce yourself?
ADEWAS: Sure, my name is Adekunle Olamilekan Wasiu [Adewas], and I am currently a freshman in the department of philosophy. I grew up in Ibadan city, and I have always been fascinated by philosophical questions. In my free time, I enjoy football, music, and exploring the outdoors.
NAPS PRESS: What are your hobbies?
ADEWAS: As I mentioned earlier, I enjoy football and music. I also love good conversations and night walks. I find that spending time with nature helps me to reflect on philosophical concepts and ideas.
NAPS PRESS: How are you enjoying philosophy so far?
ADEWAS: I am absolutely loving philosophy! The classes are challenging and engaging, and I have learned so much already. I appreciate the opportunity to think deeply about the big questions that have fascinated thinkers for centuries.
NAPS PRESS: What has been the most difficult thing to adapt to in campus life?
ADEWAS: For me, the most difficult thing to adapt to in campus life has been finding a balance between academic, work and social life. There are so many interesting people and activities on campus, but I also need to prioritize my business and studies.
NAPS PRESS: What has been the most interesting part of your campus experience?
ADEWAS: The most interesting part of my campus experience so far has been getting to know my professors and classmates the love they always show me is amazing. Everyone has such unique perspectives and ideas, and I feel like I am learning just as much from them as I am from the lectures.
NAPS PRESS: What's your favorite quote from your favorite philosopher?
ADEWAS: My favorite philosopher is Plato, and my favorite quote from him is "We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light." I think this quote captures the importance of courage and intellectual honesty in the pursuit of truth.
NAPS PRESS: What's your favorite philosophy course?
ADEWAS: So far, none yet. But my favorite philosophy course will be Ethics. I have always been interested in questions of right and wrong.
NAPS PRESS: What do you hope to take away from your campus experience aside from your degree?
ADEWAS: Aside from my degree, I hope to take away a deeper appreciation for the value of critical thinking, open-mindedness, and intellectual curiosity. I also hope to develop lifelong friendships and connections with people who share my passion for philosophy and other academic disciplines.
