University of Ibadan sets to hold
Virtual Matriculation
The university of Ibadan has fixed
the matriculation date for the 2020/2021 academic session. The virtual
matriculation ceremony is to be held at 10.00am on Tuesday,16th of March, 2021
at Trenchard hall, making it the first matriculation ceremony to be held
virtually, in history.
According to a statement signed by Mr
Oladejo Tunji, the institution's Director of public Communication, a total
number of 8197 newly admitted students are expected to participate in the
ceremony in which the University Registrar, Mrs. OlubummiFaluyi, will be
administering their matriculation oath on them and the Acting Vice Chancellor,
Prof. Adebola Babatunde Ekanola, presiding over the ceremony.
Also, a break down of the number of
freshers to be participating in the ceremony, shows that 4243 are from the
conventional mode while 3954 are from the open and distance education (ODE),
for parity of esteem. That is, out of the total number of fresh students to be
participating in the event, 4243 are regular students while 3954 are distance
learning students, for parity of esteem. This was also done during the
2018/2019 academic session's matriculation ceremony.
The speaker for the matriculation
ceremony is Dr. Boluwatife Ikwunne, an alumna of the institution and a 2020
Young Innovation Leaders Fellow and winner of the 2021 Rhodes Scholarship for
West Africa, set to undertake postgraduate studies in Clinical and Therapeutic
Neurosciences at the University of Oxford, in October, this year.
