AFAS: Faculty Legislative Council holds her
first sitting
The Association of Faculty of Arts
Legislative Council (AFAS FLC)held her first sitting March 11th, 2021 The
sitting was chaired by Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Muhammed Solahudeen.The
Speaker welcomed the Parliament to the new academic session and acknowledged
their full support towards attaining the seat. He admonished Honorables to pay
their AFAS dues and oath of office follows immediately.
In the same vein, the Speaker appoints
Hon.Olasoji Akindejoye from Linguistics and African Languages department and
Hon.Moyosore Onipede from the European studies department as the Spokesperson
and Deputy Spokesperson respectively. He also invited the former Minister of
Information, Mr Tijani Sulaimon to discuss way forward to the dormant AfAS
Website and according to Mr Tijani "retrieval of website will cost the
association the sum of thirty thousand naira(30,000), which covers domain
renewal, hosting package and hosting account restoration".
Finally, the motion of the bill of
Faculty Legislative Council Committee reforms initiated by the former Speaker,
Hon. Olumide Osinuga, awaiting the Faculty President assent was as well moved
in the sitting and Hon. Mohammed Solahudeen finally stated that members of the Faculty
will not be unjustifiably charged.
