AFAS Legislative Council holds her third sitting

The AFAS Legislative Council had a sitting on the 30th of April, 2021. The sitting was done between 3pm to 6pm whereby the opening prayer was stated by the Speaker of the House, RT. Hon. Muhammad Solahudeen.

During the meeting, new honourables were sworn in by the Speaker of the House in line with the Article 51 of the Association's Constitution.

The House, however, rejected the budget of the Office of the Clerk due to her absence which was although reported to the House through a letter before the sitting.

In addition, the absence of the Financial Secretary made it difficult for the House to be able to discuss the financial status of the Association even when all necessary documents were being sent to the House through the President.

A motion was moved and seconded by Hon. Olasoji Akindejoye and Hon. Kolipe AbdulRaheem respectively that the financial secretary and the issues relating to the financial status of the association be referred to the Faculty Legislative Council Audit Committee.

Miss Ajayi Modupe, the Vice President of the Association, presented the budget (N104,000) for the faculty 100l tutorial. The House questioned the VP on disobeying the school rules which stated that no physical classes should be hold. The VP, however, stated that the faculty management is aware of the tutorial plan.

The House noticed that the courses to be taken in the tutorial did not cut across all the departments in the Faculty. In response to this, the VP stated that she had talked to the VP of All departments in the Faculty and the hardest and most populated courses were chosen. TheThe House agreed on giving each department the power to organize and manage the tutorial at the departmental level.

The President was called upon to give a report on N600,000 which was approved by the House on the 2nd of April for the AFAS subsidized data plan. The President was not able to give report for the second time because he was not with the appropriate documents and the House could not listen to the report orally without the necessary documents.

The newly elected Investigate Committee Chairman, Hon. Collins Chiedo appreciated the House for giving him the position through a letter which he sent to the House.
