Meet Our Fresher of the Week: Alayo Idris Adewale
NAPS PRESS: Can we meet you?
IDRIS: I’m by name Alayo Idris Adewale a student of the University of Ibadan department of Philosophy, 100 level.
NAPS PRESS: Did you choose Philosophy or did Philosophy choose you?
IDRIS: This question is quite a fantastic one. Philosophy is a course of my choice, I chose philosophy because it has been my dream since my 200 level in the college of education as a borrowed course. I love the theories and beliefs of certain philosophers especially that of Socrates; and that’s why I’ve been regarded as socates junior.
NAPS PRESS: How has the virtual class been?
IDRIS: The virtual class has firstly brought about advancement of technology in the line of education. It has been lovely and interactive because they have took time to teach “not lecture” us. At the same time the atmospheric condition sometimes breaks the connection while in class or joining the zoom class or telegram, but whenever we’re in we have a good time.
NAPS PRESS: Do you think the virtual class would affect students’ academic performance?
IDRIS: No! Hell no
The virtual class will not affect based on the fact that the classes are done based on the timetable which is very elaborate. Also audios are recorded as a reference material which we can listen to over and over again and make jottings. A student failing is based on his/her commitment there is no way a student can give excuses based on that.
NAPS PRESS: Any memorable moment(s)?
IDRIS: Yes actually, the fact is that I’ve been having good time visiting the campus, meeting friends in the group and meeting physically. The most exciting part of it is that most students of my level thought I’m not in their level like 200 or 300 level and this is because I tutor them on certain courses. Yes the classes have been fun.
NAPS PRESS: What’s your Philosophy of Life??
IDRIS: A world view of philosophy on its own is understanding the essence of our life, if I should say I don’t have a Philosophy of life is just like not having a direction. Following the pattern of Socrates as an Ethical Philosopher characterizes my Philosophy. I love having morals in such a way that I would be a free minded personality based in me following the right track in life; Morals they say is the tool of life.
NAPS PRESS: Relationship Status?
IDRIS: I’ve not married but I am in a relationship, and more can still come. I would love to enjoy more than Socrates because he was not able to enjoy that much, I have to finish his unfinished job.
NAPS PRESS: If you happen to be the President of the department for one day what will you do?
IDRIS: President? Actually I’m not that interested to be one but if I happen to become the president of the department, I will make sure ethics as a branch of Philosophy is taken more seriously than any other Branch of philosophy.
NAPS PRESS: What do you intend to do with your Philosophy degree after School?
IDRIS: My philosophy degree would be used in every aspect of life I find myself. I am not planning to stay in this country, I have a brother in the UK expecting my arrival after the degree. I want to help my ethical world and face my business (Fashion institute) .Philosophy is not a waste but a dose I need to take in other not to be left behind in this world of wisdom.
NAPS PRESS: If you can go back in time to change anything, what will that be?
IDRIS: I will change my nationality and that’s all. I would rather change my Nationality to American.
NAPS PRRSS : Shout out to anyone?
