In this interview, our correspondent contacted Mr Mustapha Olufemi, the chairman of level representatives council to know the state of the Union and the council
NAPS PRESS: Can we meet you?
Olufemi: I’m Mustapha Olufemi, a 300 level Philosophy student
NAPS PRESS: How has your academic journey in UI been so far?
Olufemi: The journey has been good and awesome so far
NAPS PRESS: As the current chairman of the legislative Representative Council, what is the present situation of the council?
Olufemi: The situation is not really as good as expected, some members of the LRC are not really showing up for sitting, therefore some level are not adequately represented in the legislative body of our association.
NAPS PRESS: Has the council been able curb the ineffectiveness of the non-active representative?
Olufemi: We are planning to suspend or fine any honorable who refuses to be present in our next sitting.
NAPS PRESS: What are the achievements of the LRC so far for this academic session?
Olufemi: We have been very active on our constitutional duties by approving budgets and by checking the executive as it is in the constitution of NAPS.
NAPS PRESS: What budgets have been approved so far?
Olufemi: Tutorial budgets and sport budget. The tutorial budgets is for first and second semester
NAPS PRESS: As the second highest decision making of the department, Has the current administration been able to fulfill their manifesto?
Olufemi: So far, they are doing extremely well on tutorial and I think on sport, they are doing better. I will give them 60% and you know that is B. Also, as far as I'm concerned, the executive needs money to run the association; if people pay, I believe we will see more of them.
NAPS PRESS: Will there be a constitutional review anytime soon?
Olufemi: Definitely
NAPS PRESS: What should the current administration improve on?
Olufemi: The social life of the department is in hibernation, I think they should improve on that. Especially now that we are in the second semester of the session.
NAPS PRESS: Any word(s) for NAPSITES?
Olufemi: Philosophy is what we signed up for, we cannotstop now, we should work hard and smart to take the glory at the end. I believe we all can achieve our main purpose of coming to the university. If we can think it, we can do it.
