UCJ UI holds induction of new recruits.
On Saturday, 18th of September, 2021, the Union of Campus Journalists held her 33rd induction of new recruits together with the Famous five awards at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.
The Famous Five award is aimed at honoring personalities who have contributed immensely in politics, humanitarian services, journalism, academics, and entertainment. Awardees for each Category respectively are: Sen. Abdul Fatai Buhari, Dr Jubril Abdul Malik, Fisayo Soyombo, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo and Mr Segun Akinlolu (Beautiful Nubia)
Speaking at the event, Mr Ibrahim Adeyemi encouraged the inductees to show commitment towards their new path. He also expounded on how to spot stories that are suitable for writing.
The second speaker of the event, Mr Alao Abiodun also spoke at length on the ethics of journalism and further espoused on how the inductees can protect themselves from trouble with the school management as campus journalists. On behalf of the Union, he awarded certificates and cash prize to winners of Sunday Oguntola’s essay.
Miss Fasilat Rauf, President of the Union, expressed her delight on the success of the induction and awards. She claimed that 159 candidates took the entrance exam only 79 passed. The SU President launched UCJ magazine together with other dignitaries present.
Dada Ibukunoluwa, PRO I of the Union handled the swearing-in of oath while the Vice President Administration gave vote of thanks.
