Liverpool vs Manchester
City – Arguably Game of The Season
The
London Derby between Liverpool and Man-City took place on Sunday, 3rd
of October – the match being the 7th fixture in the Epl for both
team is believed to be the best match that has been played so far since the
2021/21 league started. Liverpool, not having lost any of its league matches
this season stood the chance to go top of the table if they were able to secure
a win over Manchester City. Although the match almost ended in favour of
Liverpool, however, Manchester City’s resilience secured them a draw as the
spoils were shared between both parties.
The
two teams held each other to a barren draw throughout the first half even
though Manchester City dominated most of the game. But then the deadlock didn’t
last for so long in the 2nd half as Liverpool broke the jinx and
found the back of the net through Sadio Mane. However, that didn’t reduce the
tempo of the game it only heighten it the more. Manchester City however wasted
no time in responding as Phil Foden found the back of the net with a shot to
the far corner of the post.
Liverpool
went ahead to pick the lead again making it 2-1 in the 59th minutes
when Salah skipped past Joao Cancelo to set up Mane to finish past the
goalkeeper. The Egypt international twisted and turned past Joao Cancelo,
Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias before firing an angled
right-footed shot inside the far post for his ninth goal in as many matches.
However, Liverpool fans excitement was abridged as Kevin De Bruyne cancelled
out Mohamed Salah’s goal with a stunning strike from outside the box, as
Manchester City hit back twice to draw 2-2 at Anfield in a tie befitting two of
the Premier League’s heavyweights.
