Sport: The Top Five Favourites of The 2022 World Cup

In a matter of hours, the world cup will kickoff at the Al Bayt Stadium. Every team in the world cup are a threat, but there are always favorites in every competition. Let’s take a look at the top five teams at the world cup.

5. BELGIUM: This era of Belgian players is the Golden era of football for the Roberto Martinez’s side. They were one of the favorites for the 2018 world cup too before they suffered a 1-0 loss in the hands of eventual winners, France, in the semifinals. 

They also crashed out relatively early in the last Euros, losing to eventual winners, Italy. With the players in their arsenal, the Belgian side are underperforming. But we would never rule them out. 

4. PORTUGAL: Is there a team National team in the world that boasts of a more balanced squad than Portugal? With Cristiano leading the pack, the Portuguese are hilariously referred to as the ‘Wolves’s’ national team. 

Portugal have the squad to beat any team in the world, it boils down to Fernando Santos to maximize their potentials in Qatar.

3. ARGENTINA: It is not coincidence that the Albiceleste are on the longest unbeaten run for any national team ever. This would be Lionel Messi’s last chance at the highly coveted trophy. Messi does not just possess a good squad around him, but he possesses a group of‘warriors’ who are ready to war with him anytime. The German style of football which Scaloni has instilled in the side is scary to watch.

2. FRANCE: If France make it out of the group stages, they will be the first defending champion to do so in the next tournament after they started the trend in 1998. But France could break even a more crazier record if they go on to win the competition altogether. Could they?

With Benzema ruled out of the tournament, we had to drop them at number two. Benzema is the third big loss for France in this competition after the injuries to Pogba and Kante. Their midfield will be looking different this time compared to what it was in the last world cup.

Les Bleus’s progress in this tournament will be dependent on how Didier Deschamps can maximize the firepower of Greizmann, Mbappe, Dembele and a lot of others. Another big loss for France is Christopher Nkunku

1. BRAZIL: Good luck to your defense when an attack of Neymar, Jésus, Raphinha, Richarlison, Anthony, Vinicius, Rodrigo runs at your defense. How does one team possess both Alisson and Elderson?

Without any iota of doubt, Brazil have the best squadin this competition. Our condolences go out to Tité who will be having a hard time fielding a starting XI. With Thiago Silva and Marquinhos at the heart of the defense, and Casemiro before them, Brazil are so hard to break down. They are our outright favorite atQatar.
