4 Simple Tips to Avoid Triggering Headaches

When headaches break in, they can hinder productivity and cause irritable behaviours. While some experience a headache often, others may only encounter it once or twice in year. Headaches may sometimes require medical attention, but readjusting your lifestyle may just be the paracetamol you need. Here are four simple tips to prevent triggering headaches.

1. Avoid straining your eyes

Overworking your eyes can trigger a headache. Exposing your eyes to ultraviolet rays from long screen time on a laptop or phone without a photochromic lens or glasses can irritate your eyes. This can then cause cluster headaches. Little efforts like using sun shades on a sunny day or sliding on tinted glasses during screen time can prevent triggering headaches.

2. Get Enough Sleep

It is a popular notion that man cannot cheat nature. If you are already accustomed to sleeping for eight hours, cutting it down to 5 hours or less may take an unpleasant toll on you. The next day might be too choking to grab a nap which may trigger a headache and a slow day.

3. Take a healthy meal

As a student, you might settle for junk or only remember to eat when your stomach grumbles. Well, a headache could come knocking if you do not feed your body well. Take in a balanced diet with enough water to wash it down and do not wait until you are hungry before you eat. Although too much of beans and some fruits like citrus have been observed to cause headaches, it is nothing a healthy meal cannot fix.

4. Cut back on stressful routines

A stressful day can cause shoulder aches linking to the side of the head thereby causing tension headaches. Some of the rigamarole of registration students face on campus can be better handled without stress. Reflect on your daily routine and completely avoid or manage situations that can stress you out. This way you can be sure to anticipate headache-free days.
