Hello, and welcome to the launch of a
talk show with Testimony tagged chat with Testy.
This podcast is about hacks and nuggets to navigate life on campus, specifically as a philosophy student. Today, I will be discussing with you, “five things you should avoid as a fresher: a staylite's advice to a fresher.”
1. SPENDING LAVISHLY: Dear Fresher, I
know that you have that money now. It is so surplus, you feel like buying
everything that comes in sight, but please try and spend wisely. E get why o.
You don't want to start your first semester in the university, ordering for KFC
meals and all, only to have Groceries and floating berries as your only support
mid semester. Sapa is real! However, if you know your father is Otedola, you
can continue. Davido 2.0, my hands are up.
2. 'I TOO KNOW'; Showing Off you read ahead in class
As much as it is okay to be inquisitive and ask questions, or answer questions
in class, you might want to think about calming down and doing less of that. Dey
calm down. I sabi say you don read but breathe in and out and calm down. You
don't want to have a lot of eyes on your GP at the end of the semester.
However, again, it is just an advice you can do as you please.
3. THE 'I NEVER READ, I NO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING GENG'
You see this set of people, avoid them like plague. They are
lying to you. They've read, they understand well, but camouflage not knowing
anything and tease you, calling you "Iwe, Book worm, Boss, Efiwe, Idan,
Jackometer". Focus on your book, don't let their whinings get
to you.
4. THE "SCHOOL NA SCAM" GENG
This is another set of people you should avoid. They are in two
categories. Those who actually hold this mentality and care less about their
grades and performance in school. Depending on what you want for yourself, you
may want to avoid this people. The second category are no different from the
previously mentioned group of people. They hold, "school is scam" but
do not be surprised to find them on first class or second class upper, at the
end of the session. You see this set of people, may God forgive them.
5. "I WILL COVER LATER"
One big academic mistake many students make is procrastination, when it comes
to reading. The first and best is so challenging that you might want to avoid
procrastinating your reading plans. Start reading gradually, so you don't have
to injure yourself with so many TDBs and MTNs during exam period. This is an
Advice you should heed to. Why? It simply makes preparation towards tests and
exams less choking. Well, this may be necessary only if you are working towards
graduating with good or excellent grades. You don't have to follow it though,
it is just an advice. Also, do your assignments on time!
