Since the thrilling kick-off match on Saturday, January 13th, 2024, between the host nation (Ivory Coast) and the 'Djurtus' ( Guinea-Bissau), the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2024 has been nothing short of remarkable and epic moments for the fans and players alike.
Nigeria's national football team, the Super Eagles, have made their presence notable in the competition so far. The likes of European club stars like Osimhen, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, to mention a few, have contributed to the development of the team.
The players had their first match against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea, which saw a goal from Iban Edu of the Nzalang Nacional and a quick equalising header from the Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.
The draw against the Nzalang Nacional can be said to have been a slow start into the competition, but after a 1-0 win against the strong host nation team (Ivory Coast), the Super Eagles have lighted hopes in the heart of every Nigerian and fans, hoping to see them lift the prestigious AFCON trophy.
The Super Eagles have now secured the second spot on the Group A table, hoping to come out with a higher goal difference after a win against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.
There are high expectations from the Super Eagles as they have taken on the Djurtus in the third round of the group stage game on Monday, January 22nd. This will aid their pace in the slightly impressive unbeaten run so far.
