Momentum-Gaining Behavior: An Antidote for Retrogression

By Light

Building momentum happens when you focus on those things that will help facilitate progress and advancement. There are habits to develop, routines to put in place and a level of discipline to imbibe to help keep everything on track. Remember that you begin to shape your future by what you begin to put your mind to. Well, I can say it's a law: you have a faint idea of what your future holds by what you set your mind on.

This could be a bitter truth, but it is true that your status quo is a resultant effect of the past decisions you have made. It is then wise to say that to have a productive semester and the best year so far is to be conscious of your decision-making strategies and those things that your mind feed on. Those things can either be a bane or a boon on your existence.

In other words, if your current life or position can be traced to the decisions you've made so far, you can actually predict your future lifestyle by the quality of decisions you begin to make today to the end that you move past mediocrity.

Before the previous year ended, I took a moment to review and contemplate on how far I'd experienced growth spanning every area. How far I had grown spiritually, physically, academically, financially, morally, even mentally. How wise I could make decisions and being able to sort things out at the edge of bewilderment.

Undoubtedly, year 2023 could have been filled with its ups and downs but it's a wise decision not to dwell on the past, irrespective of what had happened. No matter the level of achievements that had been made or even if a particular mistake was a grievous blow on you, another opportunity has been made available by time to do more and make things right. As a saying implies, 'we grow through what we go through'. It is also worthy of note that absolutely nothing would change if certain systems and strategic steps are not played out.

Building momentum requires networking (building strategic and valuable relationships), setting clear goals and working towards them, being courageous and ready to take risks, managing your time, managing your finances discretionarily, contending for superior dimensions of knowledge regarding your specificity; other areas of life and prayers. Applying these aforementioned techniques can put you on track. The responsibility of creating a better version of oneself and one's realities lies within one's resource.

Finally, major momentum-halting behaviors include lack of goals, poor decision-making, procrastination, unhealthy mindset and among others. However, these behaviors are really needed to be avoided to build momentum. It's high time you began to get the needle moving faster even in a positive direction.

To what degree would you be intentional about your momentum-gaining behavior even at this time?
