Poem

Unwritten Motherhood

I wasn’t happy in this deadly so-called marriage.

Sad!

I was when I thought I was going to be a mother

I expelled this thing in my first trimester

It was gone

I picked the phone

Debating whether I should call Macarius or wait till he came back

It’s also his child I thought

I called him... “what is it this time?, I’m busy at work, I hope you’re not asking for no dime?”

I went ahead...”I lost the child”

Silence was deafening, he didn’t say anything, he hung up

I stood screaming silently

Tears, steadily

Tears? In my eyes?

So it was a dream?
