Change; A Constant Phenomenon

Its the fifth week of resumption already and most students are still in the confused state.  Over the couple of weeks, some departments have started classes, a little bird also told me that some had physical classes as against the University's management directives that every learning activity should be online. The reason for the physical classes is quite unclear but there is every likelihood it is because of how the university's portal has been misbehaving for some time now. It is clear that the reason this system seems very hard is due to a lack of preparation. We were so used to the traditional ways of doing things that blocked our eyes from seeing how the world is gradually moving to a paperless society. Something as basic as the signing of course forms, getting allocation forms and so on which could have just being done online and ease stress on the necks of students became a stressful activity of running to one lecturer's office to another just to make sure you have your course form signed. It took the pandemic for this change to come. Like Deepak Chopra said; 'All great changes are preceded by chaos".

"We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea."- C. JoyBell C. Change they say is constant and one has to be always ready for a change or the other because regardless of whether or not if one is ready or not change will occur. Some changes come subtly while most changes comes after a great commotion. It is very unhealthy to bask in part glory while gloating about how your present state doesn't need change. 'The man who has not been to another person's farm will think his father has the largest farm'. It is advisable to be responsive to change and spontaneous to take actions.

Using the University management as a case study, how receptive are you to change? How spontaneous are you? Online classes can run a man nuts but what can you do about it? How can you make things better for yourself? What efforts are you putting in place to make sure that you make the best use of this commotion and if I'm allowed, almost depressing state?. As humans, we are meant to react to change and so far, this has not been a positive one as it has not been effective over the previous weeks. Instead of sitting down and complaining, get to work. Set a timetable for yourself. Time management is one principle that will always be relevant. Know what you want to do in a day and how much time (minutes, hours)you want to spend doing those things. It is not new when we are told that Time waits for no one. It doesn't and it wouldn't. So set a schedule for yourself and stick with it

A man without discipline cannot move fast and far in life. Be disciplined, stick to your plans. This is not to discourage being flexible but to ensure that no matter how much the plans are redefined, they are still carried out without procrastination and mere negligence. Be open to change and also wise to know when it's just laziness that is bringing about the change and not because it is actually needed. The test weeks are fast approaching, don't let your excuse be because the school didn't put many things in place. Do your part. Survival of the semester will not be for the strongest this time but does who are responsive to change.
