On the 20th of March, 2021, it was
reported on the UniIbadan Facebook page that the group of young University of
Ibadan Alumni spread all over the world presented a cheque of N250,000 to the
University.
The cheque was presented in order to
give support to indigent students under the work-study programme of the
Students' Affairs Division.
The cheque presentation was done when
the UI-Reconnect group paid a courtesy call on the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof
Adebola Babatunde Ekanola, in his office. However, the acting Vice Chancellor
was not present but he was duly represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor
(Administration), Prof Kayode Adebowale.
Representative of the UI-Reconnect group
include Mr Alli Razak, graduate of the Department of Geography (2006), Mr Ayo
Bankole of the Department of Guidance and Counselling (2005) and Mr Kukoyi
Yusuf of the Department of Theatre Arts (2006).
Important figures from the
University; Dean and Deputy Dean, student affairs, Prof Keye Abiona and Dr
Demola Lewis respectively, Principal Executive officer l, Officer-in-Charge of
work-study scheme, Mrs Olubummi Oyalakun and the director, Directorate of
public communication, Mr Olatunji Oladejo, were also present at the occasion.
