Toyin Lawani's raunchy nun outfit. A show of shame or choice of Fashion?

Toyin Lawani, the self acclaim fashion goddess has come under attack for her outfit to a movie premiere over the weekend. She actually dressed like a nun with a slit in the middle exposing her thighs.

Many of her followers critsized her in many ways, that not only has she disrespected Christianity, Toyin Lawani’s act is totally ridiculous, highly condemnable to Christian faith and churches. She fires back at her followers on Instagram and opine that Nigerians have refused to be liberated when it comes to fashion and depicting themes. She claimed that an outfit having a crucifix symbol doesn’t mean it’s a sign of disrespect to any religion. In her opinion, people dress like sexy nuns in events such as Halloween.

Now to Philosophy, is Toyin Lawani's raunchy nun outfit a show of shame or choice of Fashion? Indeed, when it comes to dressing, mostly our cultural background shapes our choice of Fashion. Example in some Arabian countries, when it comes to their women and how they ought to dress, they see it fit for a young lady to cover up herself from head to toe sometimes excluding her fingers, face and feet. Someone like Toyin Lawani, if she were to be from such a background, and chooses to dress in an hijab topped with a raunchy outfit, it is expected for her to be critsized by her Muslim fellow, like most Christians in this case.

But she claims, "I learned fashion internationally, break fashion boundaries and I’m a Risk-taker, you will never be able to understand me cause I will always stay true to what I love and will never do anything to please anyone but myself...", she speaks choice in here.  Choice, in Philosophy is a corollary of the proposition of freewill, the ability to voluntarily decide to perform one of several possible acts or to avoid action entirely. But when it comes to issue of one's choises bruising a culture or religion, it brings about debates about the rightness or wrongness of such action called (Ethical Choice). An ethical choice involves ascribing qualities such as right or wrong, good or bad, better or worse to alternatives. Do you agree that Lawani's action is indeed a show of indifference to the Ethical Choice or not, or just a pure act of shame? Think about it.
