POVERTY AND WEALTH; A RESULT OF A LIFESTYLE
The importance of having a healthy lifestyle cannot be overemphasized because it constitutes the totality of the existential personality of us as humans. It gives our life a bearing and makes us distinct as individuals and of a truth, your altitude in life or how successful you’d become in life is largely determined by your lifestyle. So today, I would be taking us through a crucial and thought-provoking topic on lifestyle which is ‘poverty and wealth; a result of a lifestyle'
The likely question you might
want to ask is, how on earth is ‘poverty a lifestyle?’ Well, soon enough you’d
get to know as we progress
To start with, what is poverty? Poverty is a state of lack, wretchedness, and indigence – being incapable of supplying oneself with the 3 basic needs of life which are clothing, food, and shelter. What then is wealth? It is the exact opposite of poverty. This is a state of having enough or even more than enough, in terms of material possessions and all other things. So, having considered these two concepts, how is ‘poverty and wealth a result of lifestyle?'
How is wealth a result of
lifestyle?
A little drop of water they
say makes an ocean – a little right attitude, behavior, hard work, sensitive
approach toward certain things in life makes ‘wealth’ for a man. ‘Rome wasn’t
built in a day’ The successful man you see today didn’t just become successful
overnight. For a fact, such success (which is now public) is as a result of
some private engagements in that field from personal study late at night to
attending leadership skills training, learning communication skills, attending
workshops, etc. by so doing such a person is acquiring the ‘right lifestyle'
that’d catalyze his or her dreams and aspirations. The right lifestyle that can
also attract success is reading good books while other gist away their time,
learning to listen rather than doing only the talking, learning effective
communication skills, think solutions while others think problems, etc. The
richest men you see on the Forbes list like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gate,
etc. are men who have at a point in the life subscribed to this lifestyle and
the results are glaring for all to see.
So, how then is ‘poverty a
result of lifestyle?’
I would like to borrow a passage from the Bible
which is Proverbs 6 vs 10-11 to better establish a cogent understanding of my
answer to this question. Which says; “Yet a little sleep, a little
slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep. So shall thy poverty come as one that
travelleth, and thy want as an armed man?"
Taking a
look at this excerpt of the Bible we can pinpoint a major incense that attracts
poverty to anyone and that is ‘sleep’. Sleep is good but it should be in
moderation, when sleep becomes the captain of your life’s ship then you should
know that you are already beckoning unto poverty. A lifestyle of excessive sleep brings laziness,
indolence, and
slothfulness which makes a man unable to engage in anything productive that can
guarantee a better future. There would be a zero commitment towards work, lack
of ambition, inability to make plans for the future, etc. and when all these culminates the
result is one thing – and that is poverty.
Conclusively, I would like to
admonish you to cultivate healthy lifestyles as they would play a
substantial role in the person you’d become in the nearest future. We’ve been
able to consider a crucial topic ‘poverty and wealth – a result of
lifestyle’, and in detail highlighted some of the aftermaths
of our lifestyles. Thus, the ball still lies in your court whether to go hither or thither, the decision is all
yours.
