Prof. Ekanola joins 15 other Professors in the VC race 


The Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Ekanola of the Department of Philosophy was appointed 30th November, 2020 for a period of six months which was later extended for another six month due to the impasse regarding who to emerge the VC of the university. However, he has joined other fifteen (15) Professors- UI Professors and other institutions-in the VC race.

Just recently, UI Community Forum comprising of five unions in the institution ― Academic Staff of Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Students Union (SU), Non-Academic Staff Union of University (NASU) and the Non-Academic Technicians (NATS)- have reached a consensus on starting the process again and creating an avenue for both students and staffs of the university to meet candidates while they declare their manifestos via zoom tagged “The Voice of next UI VC, who is next?

The meeting is set to hold 10am today (4th October, 2021). Aside the Acting VC, other contestants are: Prof. Temitope Alonge of the University College Hospital (UCH), Prof. Anthony Kolawole, Prof. Oladele Layiwola of the Institute of African Studies, Prof. Nazeem Oluwafemi Mimiko of the Department of International Relations, OAU, Prof. Babatunde Salako, Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale of the Department of Chemistry, Prof. Aderemi Raji-Oyelade of the Department of English, Prof. Ebenezer Farombi of Biochemistry, Prof. Hakeem Babatunde Faweyinmi of Uniport, Prof. Rasaq Olatunde Kalilu of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, LAUTECH, Prof. George Olusegun Ademowo of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutic, Prof. Kolawole Clement Olusegun Olaniran, Department of Teacher Education, Prof. Ganiyu Adesola Aderounmu, Prof. Adeyinka Abideen Aderinto of the Department of Sociology, Prof. Emiola Oluwabunmi Olapade-Olaopa of the College of Medicine.
