NAPS PRESS: Can we meet you?
PEGGIE: My name is Imeobong Umoh Ibok. I am a 300 level student of the department of philosophy, definitely University of Ibadan. I also happen to be the president of the department.
NAPS PRESS: Why did you choose to run as the president of the department of Philosophy?
PEGGIE: Being class representative for two years made leadership fun. So, being president was more about leadership for me. Helping to fix the things. Being the mediator, making the job easier for everyone and of course leaving a footprint worth emulating.
NAPS PRESS: What does being the first female president of the department of Philosophy mean to you?
PEGGIE: A lot. It means a lot of expectations. A lot of people looking up to you maybe. A lot of missions to accomplish. Sometimes fear of failing. But I work with the best set of people. So I look forward to the best results for all our efforts.
NAPS PRESS: What major impact(s) do you intend to make with this position?
PEGGIE: Like my manifesto says, I intend to use this position to create a better student network. Student with student, student with alumni too. Help the students and department in whatever way I can, academically most especially. We hope that after this regime, a large number of student, a greater number than we have now, are to a great extent, academically fit and balanced. One of the aims of my regime is to organize a competition with whose results we can pay the school fees of a student. An improvement I hope will continue.
With the sport director, we intend to make some addition to the sport sector of the department, this is to encourage better participation.
NAPS PRESS: You've spent a number of months in office. What are the tangible things your cabinet has done so far?
PEGGIE: Months, majority at home. We used those time for the session. Which we of course did again when we met physically. We've been able to plan the fresher's week which will take place in about 2 weeks. We're on a bit to distribute the packages of the last administration. We're on with tutorials too.
NAPS PRESS: So, what do you think the department of Philosophy should improve on?
PEGGIE: They tell us we can do everything and anything with philosophy. And I think this would be easier to believe if these opportunities were made handy to us even before we graduate. Maybe a sort of IT, paper works, something in everything and anything.
NAPS PRESS: What do you have to say to NAPSITES?
PEGGIE: Its quite an amazing feeling to be your president. Thank you for entrusting me with your votes. I look forward to not dashing that trust, make the best of this opportunity, and leave with a fulfilled heart. God bless you all.️
