The first match of the Group E of the SEALS cup was dust raising as Philosophy failed to walk home with all three points on the SUB pitch. The Plato Academy Boys squared off against Law on Friday.
The game kickstarted with Philosophy maintaining possession momentum in the opening minutes which excited the Philosophy fans.
Plato Academy had the first bite of a chewy close call when John, the target-man for Philosophy, camein contact with a cross from the right side, but was unable to generate enough power to head home due to the momentum of the ball.
The first goal of the tie came when Lakesjay, the philosophy winger, relentlessly squared a low cross to his front-man, John, for an easy tap-in.
The second half started with the Law boys coming close to a leveler from a long ranger which was calmly parried over the crossbar by Ben, the Philosophy goalkeeper.
It however did not take too long for Law to grab an equalizer after a handball foul from Pope on the edge of the box, saw a free-kick being awarded right on the edge of the box; which was fired home by Ibrahim, the Law captain with a dead-eye accuracy.
The game ended 1-1 after which both teams failed to create any serious threat from open play.
The other Group E game ended in a goalless draw between LARIS and Geology, which means each team on the group have one points each.
Philosophy faces Geography on Monday at the New Stadium to have another shot at topping grabbing their first win of the tournament.
