POD- SPECTRUM: On The Journey

 POD-SPECTRUM

 Hello.

Welcome to the First episode of 'On the Journey' Podcast, yayyyy but the very first on your page.

'On-The-Journey' is a haven for youths to share their experiences, setbacks and breakthrough. This platform helps the youths become more aware of themselves to better navigate the terrains of life. Simply, it seeks to make the youths happy.

I'm your jolly host Miskilu Aminat

Today, I'll be discussing with you failure; specifically, how to come to terms with failure. It is easy to encourage you to not stay in that brooding zone for too long and re-climb the action wheel, but it's not that simple. Imagine expending your time, hopes and energy in a project, writing a book or any task, only for it to end in collosal failure.

By all means, wallow in your mysery but do not drown to death. Tomorrow is another to give it your best shot.

Try this to be at ease with failure

Reflect on the process

Often times we focus more on the door that's closed that lose sight of the one opened. It's totally understandable that the low score has crushed your morale, but do not sty there for too long. Let me share a nasty experience with you: once upon a time when I was desperate to secure a scholarship due to my dire financial state. I applied for NCDMB international scholarship which I worked my ass of researching on; read like crazy and spend days with my eyes glued to screen with data as fuel. I was so sure the scholarship was mine. Plus the icing on the cake was a lecturer involvement in the writing.

Guess what I didn't secure the scholarship but reflecting on it I realized I have learnt a whole lot about writing from this failure than ever. It was a failure but I didn't fail because it has help me improve in writing

Do not perceive failure as a sign of your worthlessness

Do not perceive failure as a sign of your worthlessness instead step back from the event and learn from your mistakes. Don't beat yourself up over the shattered hope instead pick up the pieces; see it as a necessary evil to testing your capacity. To do this, you need a healthy dose of emotional intelligence.

When someone asked Thomas Edison how it felt to fail 1,000 times before he could develop a light bulb that actually worked, he said, I didn't fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention of 1,000 steps. Your attitude to failure matters if you must come to terms what the it to victory.

Finally, it's not enough to reflect on the failure process and perceiving failure from a positive angle without putting in place strategies to help you overcome in your next trial.

And it's a wrap on today's episode on "On The Journey". Don't forget to check us out on Anchor and Spotify for the audio version of this transcription. That you failed does not make you a failure. Thanks in advance for checking out our page.
