NAPS PRESS: Can we meet you?
SAMUEL: My name is Samuel Adeniran, a 400l philosophy student, a graphics artist and designer.
NAPS PRESS: Graphics artist and designer? Tell us a little about that
SAMUEL: I believe that a lot of people understand what graphic design entails. But graphic art goes a little bit beyond graphic design. It basically has to do with the production of visual materials to communicate emotions and other messages to the audience.
NAPS PRESS: When did you start? Are you official?
SAMUEL: I've started for quite some time now. I'm not really official yet; I'm still cooking.
NAPS PRESS: Can you talk more about who a graphic artist is
SAMUEL: Okay. I will just try and give an example of graphic artists. Graphics artists are those guys that digitalized traditional art, For example comic artists. Like I said earlier, graphic artists use visual materials to communicate emotions and tell stories
NAPS PRESS: Tell us about your journey into philosophy
SAMUEL: The truth is, I wanted University of Ibadan not philosophy. I would've ended up somewhere else if UI was offering my preferred course. So, I chose philosophy out of desperation of getting a Bachelor's Degree in UI. Though the discipline of philosophy was not entirely alien to me then, I had heard and read some things about philosophy, some of which triggered my interest and led me into choosing the course as an alternative.
NAPS PRESS: How has the journey been so far?
SAMUEL: It has not always been a smooth ride. There have been some ups and downs. But here I am.
NAPS PRESS: What topic or course got you saying 'You got to be kidding me'? That is, it got you thinking, asking questions etc
SAMUEL: Has there ever been a course in philosophy that didn't get you asking questions?
But the course that really got me to say "you've got to be kidding me" was Logic. I couldn't believe I spent a whole semester preparing for such a cheap question.
NAPS PRESS: What have you learnt so far?
SAMUEL: I have learnt how to pursue genuine knowledge. After all, that is what philosophy is basically all about.
NAPS PRESS: How has philosophy shaped your thinking and ideology?
SAMUEL: Philosophy has cleared off my intellectual cobwebs. It has helped me to know how to guide my thoughts with reason and also changed my way of viewing the world.
NAPS PRESS: What is your favorite course or topic? What part or branch of philosophy did you enjoy most?
SAMUEL: My favorite course is Logic, and that's because it's the most easiest course to pass in philosophy, at least for me. But I enjoy Philosophy of Mind the most
NAPS PRESS: How would you describe yourself now compared to how you were before studying philosophy? Ontologically, I am still the same person, lol.
NAPS PRESS: What next?
SAMUEL: A break. There are a lot of things I would love to indulge in after school, but first I need a break. It has been an exhausting journey.
NAPS PRESS: Would you continue to pursue philosophy?
SAMUEL: Personally, I will. But academically, I can't really say. If the tide eventually drags me back I hope to enjoy it more.
NAPS PRESS: Favorite moment in philosophy?
SAMUEL: My favorite moment was when I won the Dean's Cup with the Plato Academy.
NAPS PRESS: What would you miss most about philosophy and UI?
SAMUEL: My friends and colleagues. Some of us might not meet again after school.
NAPS PRESS: Parting words
SAMUEL: Life is a spoon. Lol
