As a part of the lined-up events for the commemoration of its 75th foundation anniversary, the University of Ibadan in partnership with First Bank plc and other stakeholders organized a career fair program for fresh graduates of the University of Ibadan.
The event was held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the International Conference Center (ICC) in Ibadan.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale who was ably represented by Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose urged the graduates to always prepare for future challenges.
He said that the future is always bright for the people who are determined to excel.
Speaking at the event, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, of First Bank plc, Dr Adesola Adeduntan implored the graduates to create opportunities and picture a future themselves.
He urged them to put into use what they have learned while in school because university education is a veritable tool for future challenges.
Dr Adeduntan also recounted how he created an opportunity for himself in the banking industry despite having a veterinary medicine degree.
“Students should not depend on their course of studies while in the university but should explore other sectors.” He added.
He further noted that the career fair will be a turnaround for the graduates to navigate their career paths successfully.
“Beyond showcasing the opportunities presented by the prospective employers in attendance, the career fair will help to unlock the future for fresh graduates, thereby equipping them with tools to navigate their paths to a successful and fulfilling career.”
Also, the chief executive officer, of EZ 37 Solutions, Adora Ayoade explained that the organization partnered with UI to address unemployment in the country.
“The organization holds master class in skills and profession development and life long learning for fresh graduates in order to make job seekers competent for the roles the organizations are looking for.”
