The Last Lapse of The Semester; Test and Examination
The day of reckoning is near, as the semester is fast approaching its end. Practically, exams are near. To our dear freshmen, there is no way to allay the fear of failure than to study hard! Honestly, it has not been an easy race, coupled with the so many challenges that accompany the new mode of learning- virtual semester. However, here is a quick reminder; tsunami is real, dust that material you have on your bookshelf since the inception of this semester, the voice notes from lecturers might seem too overwhelming for you to covert to note, it's better to start now! Map out a reading routine by now. "TDB" or "MTN", it's best you settle for the most suitable one for yourself. For past questions and guides, meet with the elders of the department, that is, stalites. And lastly, your mental health and prayers are of utmost importance, put them into consideration.
The university has been known for its outstanding standard of assessing its students and we need not presume if there would be compensation for the challenges confronted during these online classes. We shouldn't expect anything less in the examination. Rumors have it that plans are underway from the school management to extend the semester with extra few weeks for physical classes and examinations, however, it is better not to be caught “unfresh”. Prepare like exams are starting on the date slated for it on the session's academic calendar. Virtual or physical examinations, none is certain at the moment until the school management officially announces it. Year in and out, the tsunami list is always out for every session. This list might sound strange to you, don't panic. It's a list of students that the university yearly advises withdrawing from the school due to the inability to meet up with the required CGPA. This is why it is pertinent to start setting the record right, now. Wish you the best in your sojourn!
Moving on, the department executives have been doing tremendously well to bridge the gap of physical lectures. Ranging from giving an insightful orientation on what courses to pick, required, and electives for the semester, as well as organizing tutorials for students both in 100L and 200L. Lately, meet and greet was organized. This was indeed a better platform for NAPSITES to come together after a long break that resulted in euphoric bonding. Similarly, strengthened cordial relationship amidst freshmen and stalites. We hope they continue to serve NAPSITES better.
In Winston Churchill's words, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue". This is a subtle encouragement for our distinguished stalites. This is a semester to forever remember. You have come a long way and you understand the system the most. Here is another semester to change the narrative but be reminded that this is your race. Run at your pace. If your grades are not too good for you, the "there is time for second chance" popular saying is, here again, do well to efficiently use the time. In summary, this is another semester to make it better. Good luck in your endeavors!
Finally to finalists, the hurdle is ephemeral. It's disheartening to know that in a virtual semester, you still have to go for physical supervision for projects and assignments. Indeed, it's a pure representation of how "first and best" is still battling on finding a balance on either physical or virtual lectures. Anyways, we hope ASUU doesn't disrupt the school calendar again. Success in your examinations!
