For the freshers and even some stallites that don’t know what this means, Jaw war, just like the name is an oral competition where certain issues and topics will be debated. It is an intellectual exercise where you either stand up, speak up or shut up. In addition to the intellectual advantages of this platform, just like every other competition, it comes with schadenfreude resulting to the commotion and hullabaloo that comes from supporters with preference for a particular faculty or hall of residence to emerge victorious. The solidarity of the Zikites against the Kantagites despite being neighbors, the mockery of the faculty of law as the ‘Public Speaking Faculty’ and not winning for the past years, and the fierce tongues of the representatives of Alexander Brown Hall, ABH, even though this year may be different, fingers crossed.
The annual event starts this week with the opening ceremony on Wednesday, September 28, 2021 by 3pm at the New Faculty of Science Large Lecture Theatre. This is a time to go all out to support representatives for both the faculties and halls as well.
There is no sitting on the fence during this battle of words and like Jesus Christ. anyone(faculties or halls) will be spit out war front. It is either you stand up, speak or shut up! May the strongest and smartest win!
