Executives of National Association of Philosophy Students (NAPS) organised two days orientation programmes held 31st January, 2022 and 9 February, 2022 for the newly admitted students of the department. This programme is geared towards making the students get familiar with modus operandi of the department.
The first orientation program, had it's focus on welcoming the new students into that department and how to calculate CGPA. Lecturers in the department, Professor Agunlana and Dr. Ikahne relayed the required C.G.P.A of 1.0 at least, to stay in the university, the required files and documents to register in the department, how to go about borrowing courses in other departments and academic life in general.
Stressing further, freshers were also made to know the required documents needed for their departmental registration which includes; Birth certificate, WAEC results, Original UTME results, letter of admission, 2 passports, course form, authority to pay and the receipt of the departmental dues.
As the course advisor, Prof. Agunlana while admonishing the freshers, also suggested that a WhatsApp group should be created, so as to ease the transmission of vital information to the freshers.
However, due to low turnout of students for the orientation, 9th February, 2022 was slated for another orientation programme and freshers were given explicit details of the expected behavior and conducts a student of the University and the department should exhibit.
Erstwhile Head of Department, Professor Francis Offor was present on the second orientation programme were he advised freshers against examination malpractice and not to engage in acts that would lead them SDC. According to him, registration at the department is important, and ensure they keep every document safe. Also, the department as approved combine honours for anyone willing to.
