Opinion: PLATO ACADEMY: The heroes who won our hearts!

Philosophy departmental football team, named after the great Academy of the great Socratic Philosopher, Plato. The Green color they parade stands for greatness. The beauty of each player bearing the name of one genius philosopher is what stands them out.

One game away from making history by winning the SEALS CUP trophy, but are never away from touching greatness. Every fresh philosopher will always meet the history thefootballing excellence of this great department. The days of the glorious Chima, greatly feared by defenders, the monstrous mentality of Michael to the most decorated Ebuka

The Olympian gods smiled down and gave us John. The heroics of Ben, saving penalties with Spide-like reflexes. The doggedness of Samuel, who if U.I was UEFA would be counted among the greats and Awolowo with the Tchouameni-esque aura.

Making it to the SEALS Cup final was already history made, wining it would have been the cherry on the icing, but football is cruel. Whoever gave us this sport blessed us and also cursed us. The heroics of this tournament, even if erased from the books of history, would forever be imprinted in the memory of every philosophy student who witnessed this sour-sweet moment

The question of whether philosophers can play football is a fallacious one, the real question is who can stop them when they do?

Philosophy bow out with their heads high, chest up and heartsstrong.

Congratulations to Geography, but someone should inform the whole of U.I that the Plato boys are coming again.
