Classics oozed past Arabic and Islamic studies in a six goals howler in their first match of the Super 4, qualifying them to face Archaeology and Anthropology in the cup final.
In the final that took place on Sunday, 2nd of April, 2023 at the SUB pitch, Classics put four past Archaeology who were just able to return two goals from the four goals deficit.
Coming into the game, Classics looked determined to get their revenge against Archaeology after they (Classics) lost to them (Archaeology) in the last Dean’s Cup final when the two sides last met.
Adewale Ibrahim (Sellica) opened the scoreline which endedthe first half in a 1-0 scoreline in favor of Classics.
In the second half of the match, Sellica again sliced through the Archaeology backline to double the lead for Classics while also teeing up their winger, Victor to increase their lead by three goals to nothing.
Towards the dine minutes of the second half, Archaeology got a penalty which was rightly converted; the spot-kick seemed to give them the necessary boost as they also slot home a free-kick in succession, which gave them a glimpse of chance to get their third and bring the game leveled. However, several attempts by them to get an equalizer proved unyielding.
Classics’ number 9, Tompolo annihilated all the momentumthat Archaeology seemed to have gathered from their secondgoal, with a strike that emphasized Classic’s win at 4-2.
