The University of Ibadan, in compliance with the directives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, had cancelled its classes on Tuesday. This development follows the communiqué released by the Bayero University Chapter of ASUU on Monday, 4th September 2023 which directed executives of the Union in the branch to join the strike.
The statement reads, "Dear members, as you are aware, the National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, in its meeting held on 31st August 2023, has declared a two-day warning strike from Tuesday 5th to Wednesday 6th September 2023. ASUU, being an affiliate of the NLC, has resolved to join the strike action. Consequently, members are urged to fully comply with this directive."
The ASUU National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, stated that ASUU, as an affiliate of the NLC, resolved to support the strike action, urging its members across universities in Nigeria to fully comply with this directive.
