The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award or should we call it the Devil Wears Prada reunion (if you don't get it, forget about it) honoured the best film and television performances of 2023, as chosen by members of the Screen Actors Guild.
Celebrities like Cillian Murphy, Ayo Edebiri and Lily Gladstone didn’t only win big, they went all out fashion wise.
It didn't come as a surprise as we’ve have been seeing celebrities dazzle us with their designer outfits at the Golden Globes, Grammy’s, BAFTA’s and the likes.
The SAG awards red carpet was a mix of vibrant colours. The stars of Oppenheimer, Barbie, The Bear, Succession and Abbott elementary and others stunned in haute couture. All in all, it was a spectacular night.
As we all know, the best thing to do after an award show is gush about the stunning outfits, gawk at pictures of the amazing fits and determine the best dressed stars from the comfort of our homes. So, let’s proceed.
One of the best dressed was Carey Mulligan in her classic gold strapless Armani gown. The ruched detail along the middle and the simple frame of the Maestro stars gold gown was the epitome of glamour. Although she didn’t win in her nominated category of best actress in a leading role, she made it to the best dressed in many people’s list.
New Momma and the star of Colour Purple and the Little Mermaid looked gush worthy in a Burgundy gown reminiscent of her time as Ariel. The ‘long, custom-made mermaid-shaped gown from Dolce & Gabbana hugged her body and opened into flowing tulle at the bottom’ (Teen Vogue).
The men didn’t come to play at the SAG’s either, Colman Domingo’s blush pink tuxedo, a custom look by Off-White, Ryan Gosling's pale blue Gucci suit and Tyler James Williams ice blue Amiri suit, were miles away from the regular combination of black tuxedo and bow tie. These men brought vibrant hues to the SAG red carpet, and we have no choice but to stan.
Barbie stars, Margot Robbie in Schiaparelli, Ariana Greenblatt in Vera Wang and honorary Barbie Brie Larson by virtue of her peach pink Atelier Versace gown, were also some of the best dressed of the night. Just look at those gorgeous gowns. Barbie would be proud.
The ladies that took the night away are the legendary Emily Blunt and Reese Witherspoon with their red couture gowns. As the women don’t need much introduction, so did the gowns not need any embellishments. The colour red and the intricate cuts did all the talking.
The American entertainment award season is rounding up with the biggest Movie & TV award, the OSCARS coming up on the 11th of March. As usual, it promises to be a night of jaw-dropping outfits and entertainment. Don’t miss it!
