Ekesili
Ebuka, otherwise known as Ebutex, is a 400l student of philosophy who has
pulled a giant stride in the area of sport and has secured tons of trophies
with the department. He is one of the most consistent players in the faculty of
Arts. He has six medals to his name in the area of football and 1 in the areas
of track and fields(3rd place), making it seven medals in total,
more than any other AFASITE had ever had. And this has earned him the title of
‘the most decorated player in AFAS’.
The department of
Philosophy is revered in the faculty of Arts for its thrilling and trailblazing
exploits in football in the faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan. Its exploit
has been immense in the consecutive winning of trophies, and this has made the
department an inextricable force to be reckoned with as far as the sport is
concerned. In fact, some have nicknamed the department ‘the Manchester City of
UI’ due to their consistent clinching of major trophies and silverwares in the
faculty.
Philosophy has
successfully won 6 Dean’s Cup out of 7, and has also won 5 Super4; thus, making
the department the most successful department in football in the faculty of
Art. The winning seems to have become a tradition for the department – an
indelible curse of glory.
Ebutex won his first
trophy and medal with ‘Plato Academy’ while he was in 100level. His first
trophy was the Dean’s Cup, wrapping the competition with four goals to his
credit. In 200level he won the Super4, having 3 goals in the competition. But
lost the Dean’s cup at the Semi final in a most painful defeat to Classics on
penalties.
In 300level, he became
the sport Director for the department. And in addition to that, he won both the
Dean’s Cup and the Super4 at the same time. Ebutex scored the winning goal in
the Super4 final which secured Philosophy 3-2 victory over Anthropology. He had
4 goals in 3 matches in the competition. And then later moving on to defeat the
department of Classics in the Deans Cup final. And presently in 400level,
Ebutex just won the Super 4 as the ‘Plato Academy’ team captain, and he’s eager
and expectant that the semester Dean’s Cup will once again ‘come back home’ --
where it belongs.
The break-down of Ebutex’s medals:
100level – Dean’s Cup winner medal.
200level – Super4 medal and Dean’s Cup 3rd place medal.
300level – Dean’s Cup winner medal and Super4 winner Medal.
400l – Super4 winner medal.
