Transportation: SRC Transport Committee addresses hike in cab prices


The Transport Committee of the Students' Representative Council of the University of Ibadan has stated that all transport-related complaints received by the members of the House from students are being looked into by the Committee in collaboration with the House leadership.

This was made known through an article titled, "Notice on Transportation Issues" released by the house on Wednesday, 15th of March, 2023 and signed by the Secretary, Hon. Olukitan, Oluwatimilehin, the Chairman, Hon. Ogun, Opeyemi Rufus and the speaker of the 9th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olatoye, Eniola, respectively.

Owing to the recent hike in transportation fee on campus, many students have raised complaints and displeasure on the sudden event and on this issue, the student transport committee says work has already commenced hoping that necessary changes will be made as soon as possible.

It reads partly: “All Transport-related complaints, received by the members of the House from students, are being looked into by the Transport Committee in collaboration with the House leadership. 

“Work has already commenced on the issue of the sudden increment of Transport fare within campus and we hope that necessary changes will be made as soon as possible”

The House, also stated that  the transport fare to Ajibode is now #100 for students. However, students might need a means of Identification to board vehicles for that distance, at that price.

Also, the House advised students to get familiar with the right prices in order to avoid being exploited by any transport worker on campus and if there are attempts to be exploited by any driver, affected students ensure they take down or get the details of such driver's car/bus/tricycle and can report the case via the following numbers;
